Our Team

Lorna Milton

As co-owner of Élan, Lorna has dedicated her craft to the care of customers whilst leading Élan’s environmental crusade to become the UK’s most sustainable salon. Lorna believes passionately in combining hairdressing services that are second-to-none with environmental responsibility, which has led to Élan’s hoard of awards for sustainability and environmental innovation. Lorna is the ultimate business-thinker and inspirational mentor who never loses sight of what’s really important; the client.

Lanice Milton

As part of the Milton dynasty, daughter Lanice is Élan’s Creative Director and has worked in the salon since 2003. Trained at the Sassoon Academy and in ‘Hair-up’ by the legendary Patrick Cameron, Lanice has concentrated on her passion for hair and is vital as a creative force in the salon. With a particular forte in long hair and a specialist in bridal, Lanice is two-time winner of the Northeast Young Hairdresser of the Year and a worthy runner-up in the Scottish Championships for bridal hair.

Lauren Milton

Daughter Lauren has been part of the fantastic team at Élan since 2008. She spans her mum and dad’s role by working in the salon, as well as being part of the salon’s business decision making and supporting Élan’s environmental ambitions.

Since joining the family business, Lauren has completed an NVQ level 3 in business and administration, the Fantastic Hairdresser salon business programme, Ambassador Programme and the AP+ course. Lauren has focussed on her skills as a colour technician by attending courses at the Aveda institute in London.

Gordon Milton

Gordon brings four decades of hairdressing experience and is a consummate professional and co-owner of Élan with wife Lorna. Running Élan with Lorna and his two daughters, Lorna and Lanice combines his greatest pleasures in life, along with his pleasure in seeing people leave Élan with great hair! Gordon enjoys his dogs Jack and Levi and has a simple philosophy for life ‘do what you enjoy and enjoy what you do.’

As the first port-of-call at Élan, Dale is on reception and is a valuable interface with customers. He joined Élan after completing a get ready for work course in October 2009 at Banff and Buchan college and a work placement at Élan. Impressed by his willingness to learn and friendly personality, Dale’s reward was the offer of a fulltime position. He quickly showed a passion for hairdressing and began a Modern Apprenticeship to enhance his skills.
